Dinagyang 2012 Schedule of Activities

The Dinagyang Festival is celebrated every fourth weekend of January. It is to honor the patron saint Sto. Nino and to honor the Christianization of the natives as well.

It is an annual event, when the Ilonggos and foreign visitors come to witness this Dinagyang and to experience a lot of fun events lined up for Dinagyang 2012.

This update is more than 3 weeks overdue, I know. But I'm still updating anyway.

On July, I went to the super duper late summer outing with my batchmates at Damires Hills. Supposedly, the outing was scheduled on May 2011, however, I was still in Pampanga and went home to Iloilo on July 19. So them being considerate, they waited for me. and went to Damires Hills on July 24.

Zipline: P350 (2 zipline points)

Overnight room: P3,000 (good for 10-12 persons) - This is the room we took. It's a 2-storey room; 2 double beds and 2 single beds. It also has an extra folding bed. The room is really big -- 20 pax can fit in there.

(bathroom with hot and cold shower)

If you want to add extra mattress, there is a P200 peso charge per person.

You can also bring food, but pay the corkage. You have the option to have the food cooked there and pay P200 per meal.

If you are tight in a budget, they have value meals for P80 available at the bar.

The resort is really nice. Perfect for family gatherings, parties, weddings, and other occassions. They also accept catering.

I Survived Dinagyang Festival 2011

I've enjoyed this year's Dinagyang like I did last year, though I never got to see it up close like watching the performance of the different tribes in one of the judging areas. My friends and I went downtown early in the morning to lakwatsa, and see the participating tribes in their costumes, and of course to take pictures. While we were on our way to Iznart street, there were guys who were trying to sell us seat tickets in the stands for only Php300. It was tempting, however, I thought I could still use that money for something else.

It's an advantage that I'm a small girl, and passing through the crowd to take pictures was not a problem for me. I went street-mode shots, only to document Dinagyang 2011 as I see it, without having to think on how it should be done.

I Survived Dinagyang 2010

I was in a festive mood for the third week of January because of the Dinagyang Festival. I was one of the people who became very excited for event. Dinagyang has never been this good, and I say I have the best Dinagyang ever. If only the bf was here, he could have enjoyed the event as well. There were food fest, fireworks display, booze, and parties everywhere with big names in the movie and and music industry hyping everything. and yes there were politicians to - candidates for the 2010 election. Pfffttt!

A lot of people trooped to SM City parking lot to watch the fireworks display and contest as part of the Dinagyang 2010 event. I think there were 20 entries around the country who participated and wowed us with their pyrotechnics display.

I spent the day at the kiosk, selling Dinagyang souvenir items. I started drinking in the evening with a few friends.
